The government has taken a big initiative to give world class recognition to the non-conforming industrial area. Under this, these areas will be redeveloped. In this regard, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the entrepreneurs at Delhi Secretariat on Friday.
Kejriwal said that converting these areas into conforming zones would give them world-class recognition. He said these areas would be redeveloped in three phases. This will not only give a boost to Delhi’s economy, but lakhs of employment opportunities will also be created.
Expressing happiness over getting the support of all the associations, Kejriwal said that this project cannot be successful without the cooperation of the industrialists. Addressing the entrepreneurs, Kejriwal said that the development of Delhi has happened in a very unplanned manner. Wherever people got space, they settled there.
In Delhi, such areas have been called inappropriately used areas or non-conforming industrial areas. In fact, there is no arrangement for water, sewer, roads, nor is there any infrastructure for the industry. Here only jugaad works.
Kejriwal said that under the scheme, if a non-conforming industrial area is spread over four hectares and has more than 70 per cent industry, then it will be made a non-conforming notified industrial area. Under this, 26 non-conforming industrial areas have been identified by conducting a survey in entire Delhi. It also includes a warehouse cluster.
